Welcome, beautiful human! I’m Valerie Denise Butler-Newbern –  a storyteller!

After a successful career as an Information Technology executive, I retired in 2018 and finally stepped into the dream that had always been tugging at my heart: acting. Today, I bring stories to life across the stage, film, TV and Web — embracing every opportunity to explore the art of human connection through performance.

My work is deeply informed by a life well lived - as a professional, wife, widow, mother, and now a proud grandmother (they call me Nana!). Each chapter of my journey gives me a unique emotional depth and authenticity that I bring to every role. Whether I’m portraying a matriarch, a mentor, or a woman rediscovering herself, I strive to make audiences feel something real.

I’m known for my professionalism, positive energy, and collaborative spirit. I show up prepared, on time, and ready to work -  because every project deserves excellence and heart.

A native Chicagoan, I’m a lifelong learner and lover of adventure. I believe it’s never too late to pursue your passion or to start again. I thank God daily for this second act of my life - one filled with creativity, purpose, and joy.
